Health care agency fined for abuse claims. Plus, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ mobile office to make regular trips to City Hall, and Mayor’s Fitness Challenge stats.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ mobile office, part of the Florida Licensing On Wheels program, will make a stop at City Hall 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, May 6. It will return the first Monday of each month.

The mobile office is capable of providing driver license and identification card change of address, renewals and replacements, as well as vehicle registration renewals and replacements, and disabled parking permits.

The mobile office will also be at City Hall April 25, for the Picnic on the Plaza Earth Day celebration, and at Prince of Peace Church, 600 S. Nova Road, April 27, for Public Safety Awareness Day.

Avante fined $36,000

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration fined Avanté at Ormond Beach $36,000 for mishandling a January 2012 abuse allegation.

The agency said Avanté didn’t notify police or report allegations that a male employee had climbed into bed with a female resident.

Avanté’s Ormond Beach location, 170 N. Old Kings Road, is a 133-bed facility and is licensed as a skilled nursing facility.
