The prowl patrol

4:49 p.m. — 100 Block of Division Ave. Fleeing vehicle. During a routine patrol, an Ormond Beach police officer noticed a vehicle in the driveway of a known drug house.

There was a female and male inside the car. The officer, suspecting possible drug activity, circled the block and, when he came back around, the male was gone. The officer circled again and found the car leaving the driveway to travel on Washington Street.

At an intersection, the car “rolled the stop before coming to a complete stop,” the officer reported, so he flipped on his emergency lights. When the driver sped away, the officer turned off his lights and didn’t  pursue.

The officer relayed the vehicle's tag number and description over the radio. The same vehicle fled from a Holly Hill police officer, as well.

The officer was able to identify the driver based on her license photograph.

The defendant then proceeded to a register and paid for several groceries but left without paying for bicycle lights.

The loss-prevention officer stopped the defendant and then called the police. The defendant was arrested and given a notice to appear.

The lights were valued at a $33.92 combined.
