Four Daytona Beach residents are in custody after robbing Let It Roll, near Ormond Beach, at gunpoint Thursday afternoon.

The robbery sparked a criminal pursuit into Holly Hill, where a Volusia County Sheriff’s deputy fired a shot in defense when the suspects’ Grand Cherokee drove at him. All three robbers — Isaiah Brown, 18; Darius Rivera, 18; and brother Devin Rivera, 18 — along with getaway car driver Amanda Bruns, 29, were taken into custody after their vehicle crashed into a Holly Hill home.

There were no serious injuries, although one suspect sustained a bite from a Sheriff’s K-9 and another sustained a minor head injury.

The ordeal started at about 5:48 p.m., when three men with bandanas concealing their faces barged into Let It Roll, at 775 S. Yonge St., and robbed the store’s safe. The fleeing vehicle made it to Nova Road, where a deputy spotted it going southbound. The vehicle momentarily lost control in a church parking lot at Walker Street and Center Street, then it drove head-on into the patrol car of a deputy just arriving on scene.

The deputy, Dennis Miller, opened fire with one shot at the SUV as it drove toward him.

The suspects’ vehicle then continued on to Peacock Road, where it crashed into a house about three minutes later. No one inside the house was injured, although the house did sustain structural damage.

By 6:38 p.m., all four suspects were in custody. Officers from Ormond Beach, Holly Hill and Daytona Beach all assisted in the arrest.

The defendants' shotgun, along with the money they stole, have been recovered.
