HUM golf tourney collects $29,000

The numbers are in, and the Halifax Urban Ministries Golfn’ 4 Homeless Prevention tournament Aug. 10, at River Bend Country Club, drew 132 players and 70 sponsors, who raised enough funds to supply 1,750 bags of groceries and 63,000 meals to needy families in Volusia County.

The event, which benefited HUM’s Feed a Family and STAR Family Shelter programs, also raised enough to provide 3,600 nights of safe shelter, meals and guidance to families living at the shelter.

The event’s sponsors combined to raise a total of $29,000.

The tournament’s winner was Fox Mattress, with a low score of 57.
