Palm Coast United Methodist Church gave blessings in preparation for the return to school. The intent of this first backpack blessing was to help students place their faith and trust for a successful school year in the hands of God.
NARFE donates to of Visiting Angels
Bob Shaughnessy, president of Chapter 1557 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees, presented a check to Medwin Nazif, director of Visiting Angels Senior Home Care, during the recent open house of the Flagler County Alzheimer's Resource Council. ARC provides support to caregivers of individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. NARFE is an ongoing contributor to Alzheimer's research and support efforts.
Humane Society looking for foster homes
The Flagler Humane Society is in need of foster homes. A recent incident sent 49 new cats their way. Foster homes are needed for these cats and kittens to make room in the shelter.

FPC alumnus awarded scholarship
Flagler Palm Coast alum, Clyde Sanders, was awarded a 4-year Merit Scholarship for full tuition to attend Coastal Law School, in Jacksonville, beginning this month.
Hollingsworth to offer new classes
Hollingsworth Gallery will offer a new session of classes starting Aug. 24. The new classes are as follows: Open Studio, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday; Mixed Media taught by J.J. Graham, 3-5 p.m. Wednesday; Children’s Art taught by Graham 6-8 p.m. Wednesday; and Friday Paint Out, noon to 6 p.m. Friday.
Starting back Aug. 29, an experienced painting group called the New NABIS will reconvene for eight sessions. This is a group painting endeavor that meets Thursdays with the goal of forming a cohesive mindset.
