A real fixer-upper

8:49 a.m.  — 100 Block of Beachway Drive. Residential burglary. A deputy met a man who said he purchased a home and was renovating it to sell later. The man said he is self-employed and has been working there with his employees to fix the place up.

After returning from a cruise to the Bahamas, he noticed that several of his tools had been stolen. He didn’t see any signs of forced entry, and all the doors and windows had been locked. The last time he and his employees were at the residence was on Friday, Aug. 9, so the burglary had to have happened sometime over the weekend.

The man was able to provide a serial number for a blue paint sprayer, but among the items missing are a faucet, post light, wall sconce, demo hammer, nail gun, staple gun, sander, brass door knobs, drill, deadbolts, circular saw and hand clamps. The deputy did not see any signs of forced entry or any physical evidence; it had all been stolen.

Ghostly footprints

The employee said that between 4:30 p.m. the day before and that morning before 8 a.m., someone has broken into their program’s white bus. The employee said that at about noon, they discovered that someone has entered the bus, removed the fire extinguisher and sprayed it throughout the bus. The suspects had also opened all of the small upper windows.

Footprints were left behind in the white powder from the extinguisher, as well as palm prints that were turned in as evidence. Also found at the scene of the crime were two black socks found in the rear of the bus. There are no suspects at this time, or any idea who will foot the bill for the damages to the bus.
