Pole-walking business focuses on health, wellness

Chrissy Powell, a certified fitness instructor, has been working in Flagler County for more than 25 years, through the Belle Terre Swim and Racquet Club and through Flagler County’s Adult and Community Education program. 

But now, Powell has decided to work on her own; she has opened a business called Wellness with Chrissy. She offers seven fitness pole walking classes each week throughout the county, and will host aerobics and pilates classes starting Aug. 26 at the Palm Coast Community Center. She also offers employee wellness programs and personal training sessions for individuals and groups.

+ Free interior design presentation offered

Rita Williams, an interior designer, will talk about the latest trends and tips on interior furnishings and designs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 24. The event is presented by Grand Haven Realty and Emerald Homes, and will be held at Sunset Inlet, a housing community in Beverly Beach. For more information, call 445-0056.

The first five businesses who email their answer to that question to Gretchen Smith, communications manager for the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates, will be featured on the front page of the next issue of The Voice, the chamber’s monthly newsletter. + Chez Jacqueline social helps animal rescue

The Chez Jacqueline gift shop is hosting a night of wine, appetizers, live music and an in-store scavenger hunt to benefit the SAFFARI animal rescue. There will also be a live auction. The event will be held from 5  to 7 p.m. on Sept. 9, at the gift shop at 25 Harbor Village Way. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.saffarirescue.org or by calling 445-6840.

+ Bright House Networks relocates

Bright House Networks moved to a new location at 2323 N. State St. in Bunnell. Before, the company was located in Palm Coast.

The business held a ribbon cutting at its new location on Aug. 14, which was attended by local officials, including Bunnell Mayor Catherine Robinson.

+ Local hires

• Grand Haven Realty hired Mike Hansen as a real estate representative for new home sales at Sunset Inlet, a community in Beverly Beach.

• Casey Ryan was hired by the city of Palm Coast as an event coordinator. Ryan is the former product development manager for tourism with the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce.

• The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce hired Heather Thompson as its director of membership.

• The Flagler County Tourist Development Council has hired Debra Naughton as a tourism administrative assistant and Doreen Chase as a product development manager.
