About a decade ago, David and Melinda Hause took a risk: Firehouse Subs told its employees they could open a franchise of the restaurant, but to do so, they would need to leave Jacksonville, where the company is based.
The two moved to Palm Coast to open one of the restaurant’s first franchises, and they haven’t looked back since.
“We’re here celebrating not just the opening of a restaurant 10 years ago, but we’re celebrating a spirit of America, a spirit of risk-taking, a spirit of entrepreneurism,” said Don Fox, the company’s CEO, during an anniversary party held at the store’s Palm Coast location.
To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, the store hosted a tasting of its subs, games, and a magician and balloon artist for customers.
Much of the community showed up to congratulate the Hauses on reaching 10 years of business, including a large number of firefighters, who benefit from the restaurant’s public safety foundation, which donates equipment to fire departments nationwide.
Mike Beadle, fire chief for the Palm Coast Fire Department, spoke at the event, thanking the Hauses for their continued support. Palm Coast Mayor Jon Netts also spoke, expressing similar sentiments.
