Art Dycke selected as Starlight Parade Grand Marshal
City Historian Art Dycke has been named grand marshal of the Palm Coast Starlight Parade in honor of his work with the Palm Coast Historical Society to preserve the history of Palm Coast and make the thousands of documents, news articles, photographs and items of memorabilia available to the public.
Dycke and his wife, Louise, will lead the Starlight Parade 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Central Park in Town Center.
“I’m a hambone, so I love this,” said Dycke, 79, who retired to Palm Coast in 1993. “This was an unbelievable good week for me! Just before I was asked to serve as grand marshal, on that Sunday before, I got a hole-in-one. Can you believe that? I’m the worst golfer in Grand Haven!”
The city’s Starlight Event & Parade will kick off at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 with live entertainment featuring The Grinch, a snow slide and Santa. Leading off the parade will be the participants of the Starlight Half Marathon and 5K.
The parade route will begin at the round-about on Central Avenue and head east around Central Park, turning north onto Park Street, east onto Lake Avenue, and south on City Place, and then continuing south on Bulldog Drive.
Admission is free.
