Flagler Beach Mayor Linda Provencher is gathering money and volunteers to provide Christmas dinners to needy residents of Flagler Beach.
“It’s Christmas, and it’s heartbreaking to think of people not having something to eat,” she said at a Dec. 12 Flagler Beach City Commission meeting.
The city will also provide meals for elderly folks unable to prepare their own meals.
Flagler Beach didn’t have a Feed Flagler location this Thanksgiving, Provencher said, and so she is hoping to make sure local people who can’t drive don’t fall through the cracks.
“We just want to make sure we have all of our bases covered,” she said.
The turkey and ham dinners will be home-delivered the day before Christmas.
To contribute, checks should be made out to the city of Flagler Beach, with “Feed Flagler Beach” in the memo line. All donations should be delivered by Dec. 20.
Mail them to: City of Flagler Beach,105 S. 2nd St. P.O. Box 70, Flagler Beach, FL 32136.
