After fighting for first place all season and finishing tied in points, it was no surprise the Knuckleheads and the Scorpions met in the championship game of the latest Flagler Ball Hockey season.

In a hard-fought game, the Knuckleheads prevailed, 3-1.

The Knuckleheads took a 2-0 lead thanks to two goals by John November, but the Scorpions struck back on a goal by Bobby Scavarda. Late in the third period, though, the Knuckleheads’ Ed Stachurski stole the ball from a Scorpions player and went on a breakaway, burying the insurance goal past Scorpions goalie Mike Scavarda.

The Knuckleheads held off the Scorpions’ attack over the final minutes.

November was awarded the playoff MVP with eight goals in two games. Ryan Gillespie, of the Scorpions, was named the MVP for the season.

With another season in the books, players and teams are getting ready for a new season after New Year’s.
