PDA Florida sent two teams (U16 boys and U13 girls) to the Super-Y North American finals, at the IMG Academy in Bradenton.

The two teams qualified by winning the Southeast Division of the summer Super-Y League.

The boys finished at 9-1-0 with the lone loss coming in a crossover match against the top U17 team.

The boys team scored 44 goals and gave up nine.

The U13 girls went undefeated at 5-0-1 in their division, outscoring opponents 10-5.

In the Super-Y finals, the U16 boys won three gamesm defeating Princeton SC (New Jersey), 2-0; Thunder SC (Maryland), 1-0; and Ironbound SC (New Jersey), 3-2.

The boys’ lone blemish was a 2-1 loss to Ottawa Fury FC (Canada) in which PDA held the lead at 1-0 in the second half before surrendering two late goals on free kicks. Ottawa ended up advancing to the championship.

Unfortunately, the PDA boys team missed advancing to the semifinals on a third tiebreaker (most goals scored). The team also used the event to attend colleges on official visits, including the University of South Florida and Eckerd College, where players and parents were able to tour facilities and meet coaches.

The boys team features players from 11 different high schools, including Matanzas, Flagler Palm Coast, Spruce Creek, New Smyrna Beach, Seabreeze, Stanton, Bishop Kenny, Atlantic Coast, Nease, St. Joseph's and Fernandina Beach.

Although the U13 girls did not get as many wins, going 1-3-0 for the event, the team was very competitive in each match against elite national competition.

The U16 boys are coached by John Haworth, and the U13 girls are coached by Liam McIlhatton.
