Flagler County is entering the new year hoping to draw tourists — and a person to help draw the tourists.

The county's tourism guru — Georgia Turner,  vice president of Tourist Development for the Flagler County Chamber since 2011 — was scheduled to work her last day on Dec. 31, and the chamber is searching for a replacement.

But under Turner's watch the area has been rebranded, going from the plain old "Flagler County" on promotional material to the snazzier-sounding "Palm Coast and the Flagler Beaches," and the Flagler County Arts Alliance and Flagler County Hospitality Alliance have helped create a buzz about the area.

Keeping Flagler County a tourism hot spot in the future, Turner said, will mean making use of social media to market the area and continuing to promote it as an ideal year-round sports destination. Who will replace her? Stay tuned this year to find out.
