Not long ago, many roads in Palm Coast were two lanes. There weren’t many traffic lights, and the roads were rarely congested.

Fast forward to 2014, and that’s history.

This year will be a busy year for construction crews on Palm Coast roads. The Palm Coast Parkway six-laning project surely is No. 1 on the list.

That project is set to begin in February, and will take about two years. City officials estimate completion by the end of 2015. The project will widen Palm Coast Parkway from four lanes to six for about 1.24 miles, from Cypress Point Parkway to Florida Park Drive. Additionally, an 8-foot-wide sidewalk along the roadway and the bridge in both directions will be constructed.

Other construction projects around Palm Coast will begin in the New Year, too. Those include the multipurpose paths along Matanzas Woods Parkway and Seminole Woods Boulevard.
