Al Esposito to be honored by Disabled American Veterans
The Rev. Al Esposito, of Saint Maria del Mar Roman Catholic Church in Flagler Beach will be honored by the Chapel of Four Chaplains at the local Disabled American Veterans Chapter #84 in Holly Hill this weekend.
Esposito joins other honorees the Rev. Steve Heath, of Union Congregational Church in Holly Hill and retired Army Chaplain Rabbi S. Howard Schwartz, of Haven Hospice in Deland.
Their names will be added to the Chapel's Legion of Honor Role when they receive the prestigious Bronze Medallion of the Legion of Honor of the Four Chaplains. This is the same award previously presented to Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Carter and the elder Bush.
"This unique award is presented only after deliberate consideration of the nominee's lifetime record of selfless service to their community, their state or their nation as exemplified by the action of four World War II US Army Chaplains,” said Chapel Director Larry Babitts.
The public is invited to witness this free unusual ceremony at 2:30 pm, Sunday, Feb. 10, at the DAV Chapter 84, 601 Eighth St., Holly Hill.
