Hospital goes red for women
In honor of American Heart Month, employees of Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd., wore red in support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Day Feb. 1.
Cardiovascular disease is the country's leading cause of death, and although there has been a reduction in coronary heart disease in men the past 40 years,female reductions have lagged behind.
Plantation Bay unveils new sales center
The Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club, developed by ICI Homes, held a reception to showcase its newest sales center Thursday, Feb. 7, at 100 Plantation Bay Drive.
With maps, photos and touch-screen video, the newly remodeled center will feature a 46-foot wall displaying ICI Homes’ 34-year history, in addition to regional, local, construction, energy and pricing information.
Remodeling of the 1,188-square-foot center took more than a month of construction work.

Supervising, training workshops: Feb. 14
Daytona State College’s Center for Business and Industry will launch a new four-week workshop program for supervisers Feb. 14, to run through March 7. Classes meet 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, in Daytona Beach. Instructed by Ray Huther, a former Xerox supervisor. Fee: $295.
The CBI will also open a production technician training course Feb. 12, to run through April 11, to prepare workers for the four Manufacturing Skill Standards Council certification exams. Fee: $395, plus $140 workbooks.
A one-day, $125 technician certification course will also be held Feb. 22.

New entrepreneur program in the works
Center for Business Excellence Manager Lou Paris will launch a new entrepreneur-training program, Startup Quest, in April, at 329 Bill France Blvd., in Daytona Beach.
The program will end with a 10-minute business pitch competition.

Ormond Breakers signs to Flagler Beach management firm
Preferred Management Services, of Flagler Beach, has acquired Ormond Breakers Condominium Association, a 39-year-old condo complex in Ormond by the Sea, as its newest client.
Founded in 1995, Preferred Management Services merged with Flagler County companies RE/MAX Oceanside and Commercial World Inc., last year.
