+ Little League dedicates storage building ... Play ball!
Dignitaries, players, parents and coaches gathered Saturday morning to dedicate the new Palm Coast Little League building, located at Indian Trails Sports Complex.
The facility will be used for storage, and the floor was painted to replicate a baseball field. The Little League board of directors will also hold its meetings inside the building.
+ Johnson, Lady Pirates rout Pine Ridge in softball
Lady Pirates pitcher Amber Johnson limited Pine Ridge to just three hits, and Matanzas went on to win, 15-0, in a three-inning mercy rule.
Matanzas (1-1) scored five runs in the first inning and nine in the third to end the game early.
Christina Reynolds (double), Nicole Breen (single) and Morgan Lambert (triple) all had three hits and two RBIs.
Matanzas hosts Nease 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in a District 4-5A game.
+ Race of the Runways
The Race of the Runways 5K took place Saturday, at the Flagler County Airport.
Danny Weed, of Palm Coast, took first place overall, finishing in 17 minutes, 32 seconds — a 5:39/mile pace.
Katie Hoover, of Ormond Beach, was the overall female winner, finishing in 19:02 — a 6:08/mile pace.
