FPC falls to Mandarin, 8-7.

Bottom of the seventh inning:
Alicia Smith leading off ... On a 2-2 count, Smith gets hit in the hands for a leadoff HBP. FPC is in business.

Destiny Kelly pops out for the first out.

Sam Mittel just poked a ball to left field. FPC has two runners on with one out, trailing 8-5 in the bottom of the seventh.

Breanna Blackledge drives in two after she hit a ball back up the middle. The Mandarin center fielder misplayed the hop, and two runs came in. Blackledge ended up on second.

FPC trails 8-7 with one out in the bottom of the seventh.

Addison Eggert with a rope to right field. Blackledge held up at third. Runners at the corners for FPC with one out, trailing 8-7.

Top of the seventh inning:
Onesti Stevens with a very nice catch in right field and then a strike home to keep the Mandarin runner at third. That could be huge. Two outs now.

Anna Hardy, who came on in relief, works around a few hits to strand runners on second and third.

FPC trails 8-5 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. Buckle up ...

Bottom of the sixth inning:
FPC has six outs to work with trailing 8-1. Is there magic in the air tonight for the Lady Bulldogs? Two innings to tell.

Destiny Kelly leading off the bottom of the sixth for FPC ...

She's out on a dribbler up the first-base line. One down.

Sam Mittle bloops a single to left field to give FPC a duck on the pond.

Courtney Williams with another dribbler up the first-base line for the second out.

We have a little two-out rally here ...

Addison Eggert gives Mandarin a dose of their own medicine with an opposite-field double to knock in Sam Mittel and cut the lead 8-2.

And then Gabby Maynard with a single up the middle to knock in Eggert to make it 8-3.

Gabby Cochran drives in another run with a triple to left-center field.

FPC now trails 8-4.

FPC coach Ed Beckett telling his team "everybody gets a hit."

Courtney Williams listened to her coach, and she hits a tough dribbler that Mandarin can't handle to knock in Cochran to make it 8-5.

Anna Hardy strikes out for the third out, but not after FPC strings five straight hits together to cut the lead to 8-5 going into the top of the seventh inning.

Sixth inning:
Mandarin is piling it on now with two more lazers. Lady Mustangs now lead 8-1 with one out in the top of the sxth.

Bottom of the fifth inning:
Trailing 6-0, FPC comes to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Gabby Maynard leading off the inning for FPC ... and she laces a triple to left field. It was a stand-up triple, and Mandarin's third baseman missed the swipe tag.

Courtney Williams drive in FPC's first run of the game with a groundout to first base.

After a leadoff triple from Maynard, FPC's bats go silent. The Lady Bulldogs trail 6-1 after five innings.

Fifth inning:
Mandarin gets back-to-back doubles to take a 4-0 lead.

With two outs, Mandarin knocks in two with a double to right field.

Mandarin leads 6-0 after five innings ... and still batting.

Top of the fifth innning:
Sam Mittel works a one-out walk, but Mandarin's Kayla Donker gets two easy outs to get out of the inning. Donker still has a one-hitter going.

Mandarin still holding onto a 3-0 lead.

Middle of the fourth inning:
Mandarin's Dajia Jones gives the Lady Mustangs a 3-0 lead after a solo bomb to left field.

Time for the Lady Bulldogs to string a couple of hits together.

Top of the fourth inning:
FPC goes down in order again. Mandarin pitcher Kayla Donker has a one-hitter after three innings. Lady Mustangs still lead 2-0.

Middle of the third inning:
With two outs, Maynard hit a Mandarin batter. Then the next hitter laced a ball into the right-center field gap, and the runner on first scored to give Mandarin a 1-0 lead. The next hitter blooped a ball into no-man's land behind the second baseman to bring in the runner from second.

After 2.5 innings, Mandarin leads 2-0.

Top of the third inning:
Well, it looks like we have a pitcher's duel here at FPC. Both teams with just one hit through two innings after FPC goes down one-two-three in the bottom of the second inning.

Middle of the second inning:
Maynard sits Mandarin down in order. Let's see if FPC can get out to a lead in the bottom of the second.

Top of the second inning:
Destiny Kelly gets a one-out hit, but the Lady Bulldogs strand one runner after Breanna Blackledge grounds out to third base to end the first inning.

Middle of the first inning:
FPC pitcher Gabby Maynard works around a single and a walk to get a line-drive out to center field to end the inning for FPC. Mandarin got one hit.

6:15 p.m.
I just spoke with FPC coach Ed Beckett. Although his Lady Bulldogs are 1-3, he said every team they have played this season has been undefeated. That continues tonight with Mandarin.

By the way, the JV game just finished, and so the varisty teams are about to begin warming up.

ORIGINAL POST -- 6:10 p.m.
It’s a gorgeous night here at Flagler Palm Coast High School.
