Two wrongs don't make a Sprite
6:15 p.m. — 1500 Block of Granada Boulevard. Fraud. A suspect attempted to purchase two soft drinks with a counterfeit $100 bill.
The clerk checked the bill with a money marker, which indicated real money, but she could clearly see Abraham Lincoln’s face on the bill when she held it up to the light.
When the clerk asked about the bill, the suspect asked for it back. However, the clerk said, “No, I’m calling the police,” and then, according to the report, the suspect ran out of the store leaving the soft drinks and counterfeit bill behind.

Construction-site camping
3:46 a.m. — Intersection of Hand Avenue and Orchard Street. Found property. An Ormond Beach police officer found a man sleeping on a piece of road construction equipment. The officer, in the report, wrote that he woke the man “from his slumber” and asked him why he was there.
The man told the officer, according to the report, that he must have been drinking and fell asleep. While searching the area, the officer found two $1 bills wadded up with a paper tissue and cocaine inside.
Since the man wasn’t in physical possession of the pills and the man denied ownership, the officer couldn’t make an arrest.
Hyundai, bloody Hyundai
7:09 p.m. — 500 Block of Sterthaus Drive. Suspicious incident. A man covered in blood was pushing a car into the woods when an officer was called to the scene.
The officer found the vehicle, which he said had blood on the outside and “a lot more blood in the front seat, on the shift knob and in the back seat on some towels and on a jacket.”
Police made contact with the vehicle's owner and her son, who, according to the report, said he was driving the car when he was reaching for his cell phone and cut his hand on some glass.
The son also told police the car ran out of gas so he pushed it off the road so it could be towed. There were some inconsistencies, police noted in the report, in the story the mother and son were telling.
Police helped them get fuel for the vehicle and took a report for police information purposes.
