A sixth-grade Community Problem Solvers team — ABC, 123 Tech for You and Me — at Rymfire Elementary School is focusing on bringing technology to their fellow students who don’t have home access.

The project involves collecting surplus technology and recycling it in much the same way that the Flagler Schools Make It-Take It program has been working for years.

Veronica Thornton and Bill Welch, of the Make It-Take It program, are meeting with the students once a week to teach them how to upgrade and repair the computers, so that the group can operate independently.
“They’ve taken on a tremendous task,” Thornton said. “If they are successful, they can replicate this in other schools. The goal of Make It-Take It is for every student to have technology in their homes, and this is a small way of doing it. I think this is great.”

To donate old computers to the project, email [email protected].
