Why work when you can steal ... $200?; and, machete man busted for baggie of drugs.

10:04 a.m. — 100 Block of Granada Boulevard. Theft. An Ormond Beach woman was arrested for stealing $200 from coworkers, on her second day at the store.

After receiving a call about the theft, the police questioned all of the employees, except for the defendant, who quit halfway through her second day at the store, which was the same day the theft occurred.

Police determined the defendant was the “most logical suspect,” and questioned her at her home. According to the report, the defendant admitted to stealing the money, in both a verbal and written statement.

Searching for machete man

11:04 p.m. — 600 Block of Fleming Avenue. Narcotics. An Ormond Beach police officer witnessed the defendant riding his bike without a rear light attached, activated his emergency light and conducted a stop.

The defendant told the officer he was coming from his friend’s home, but couldn’t provide an exact address. After questioning the defendant, the officer noticed he had a “machete knife” located on the bicycle, which the defendant said, according to the report, he had been using to kill snakes in the woods.

While checking the defendant for additional weapons, the officer found a plastic bag, containing one gram of marijuana, in his pocket. He was placed in handcuffs and arrested.
