The best advice I ever got was to keep your head on a swivel.
I heard this advice while serving in the U.S. Navy, and it made sense for obvious safety issues you can encounter on the flight deck. The advice is good to follow on any given day, in any situation.
Always be aware of your surroundings. As a real estate agent, I go into many homes. It’s important to me to always check to see where my exits are should I find myself in a house with someone dangerous. You never know what could happen. During driving as well, especially the busy holiday times, it’s important to know what is happening around you.
Also, you could use the advice to be careful not to hurt people’s feelings.
