The wet bandit
10:24 a.m. — 600 Block of Yonge Street. Vandalism. The property manager contacted the Ormond Beach Police Department after a tenant was evicted due to lack of payment, and, he thought, vandalized the unit after removing his personal items.
The property manager said the suspect had lived there for years and was recently asked to move out due to falling behind on the rent. The property manager also said there were personal issues between himself and the suspect, stemming from a financial civil matter.
According to the property manager, the suspect vacated the property before he said he was, and left both air conditioning units running on high. The property manager discovered the units were running Dec. 28, and unplugged them. Then, Jan. 3, the property manager checked the unit again and discovered both door unlocked, with no signs of forced entry.
The property manager said the water in one of the bathrooms had was left on, flooding the entire unit. The top of the toilet tank was also broken. Other damage to the unit included a window air conditioning unit ripped out and missing, and a large hole in the wall.
Police took photos of the unit and placed them into evidence, along with the report.

Now you see it, now you don’t
10:01 a.m. — 1500 Block of Granada Boulevard. Shoplifting. An Ormond Beach police officer was called to the store about a shoplifting incident earlier in the day. The suspects entered the store, selected two iPads and approached a register.
According to the report, as the cashier scanned one of the iPads and turned to place it on top of the bagging area, one of the suspects grabbed the other iPad and placed it in a plastic bag in the shopping cart. While the cashier was distracted, the same suspect grabbed the plastic bag and put it in her purse, and then showed the other suspect what she did.
The suspects exited the store and left the parking lot in a light colored, four-door car.
