Motoring: What's your price for flight?

2:54 p.m. — 1500 Block of Granada Boulevard. Shoplifting. A loss-prevention officer witnessed the suspect take shoes, a quart of fuel and an A/C filter, with a total value of $41.63, off shelves, place them in his shopping cart and try to leave the store without paying. When the officer stopped the suspect and asked him for a receipt, the suspect grabbed his own property out of the shopping cart and took off running.

The loss-prevention officer told police the suspect jumped into a black vehicle, which was registered to a Michigan woman, and drove away. The vehicle then made its way onto Interstate 95, traveling at high speeds, at which point Ormond Beach Police officers lost sight of him.

The loss-prevention officer told police he has seen the suspect in the store before, and he could identify him if provided a photo lineup.

Magic purses

3:02 p.m. — 200 Block of Granada Boulevard. Shoplifting. Ormond Beach police responded to the location after two suspects entered the store with empty purses and left with full purses. The store’s manager told police the suspects had done the same thing once before and were stealing items, although she hadn’t actually seen the suspects hide items in their bags.

An employee told police he saw the suspects leaving the store and called out to them. The suspects then got into a black vehicle and fled southbound on U.S. 1.

The store doesn’t have surveillance equipment and the manager said she wouldn't know what exact items were taken until an inventory was completed. The manager also said she wanted to pursue charges if the suspects were located. She gave the police descriptions of both suspects.
