+ Team Flagler finishes second in tourney
Team Flagler, a 60-plus senior softball team comprising players for the Flagler County softball leagues, finished in second place in the year-end Florida Half-Century Invitational Senior Softball Championships, in Auburndale.
To qualify for the tournament, each Florida team was required to participate in a minimum of six tournaments throughout the year, which are held monthly. They were also required to win their five-team bracket at least once.
Team Flagler won three monthly brackets during the year and entered the tournament ranked seventh in the state. Rankings for each month are determined by the Florida Half-Century committee, according to a team’s overall tournament performance during the year. Team Flagler was placed in the B bracket, and went undefeated (4-0) over two days, winning by scores of 27-14, 18-6, 17-5 and 24-12, respectively, and qualifying to play against the Team Florida, based in Port St. Lucie.
Team Florida knocked off Team Flagler in the championship, 22-10.
Team Flagler heads into this season ranked seventh in the state.
