A sports-related business prospect visited Palm Coast on a tour of possible locations on Wednesday, and one of those included the Players Club, located at the corner of Palm Coast and Palm Harbor parkways, City Manager Jim Landon confirmed.
Landon said the unnamed company visited a variety of sites, “so it wasn’t just about the Players Club.”
“It’s actually another sports-type business, so that’s a good thing that’s right up our alley,” Landon said.
The company, according to sources, would be a business and include some type of soccer player development.
Wednesday was the first visit, Landon said.
“We’re kicking the tires,” he said. “It was a very positive discussion today.”
The Players Club has been dilapidated for some time now. It previously used to be the tennis destination for Flagler County.
Now, it sits empty with overgrown trees, boarded up doors and torn nets.
In April 2011, former City Councilman Frank Meeker asked city staff to contact the property owner to clean up the area.
