Former Matanzas High School Band Director Steven Edward Knob was issued a formal reprimand after he was accused of downloading pornography at work.
Knob was accused in October 2011 of using his work-issued computer to access pornographic images. He subsequently resigned from his position, according to records from the Florida Education Practices Commission.
Knob entered a settlement agreement with the commission on July 2, in which he neither admitted nor denied the allegations against him, and instead elected not to contest the allegations. A letter of reprimand will be placed in his certification file with the Florida Department of Education, and a copy of the letter will also be placed in his personnel file with his employing school district.
He will also be placed on probation for two employment years. Under the terms of his probation, Knob must take a three-credit-hour, college-level course on ethics and must provide the Florida Education Practices Commission with copies of evaluations, among other things. Knob also agreed to submit to an evaluation by a licensed psychologist, psychiatrist or mental health counselor.
In addition, he will pay a fine of $500 to the commission. Knob will also pay $150 for each six months of his probationary period, to help offset the costs of his monitoring.
