A Palm Coast man on July 24 pled guilty to felony child abuse after hitting a 12-year-old boy in the eye while apparently intoxicated.
Scott Cadek was arrested in November 2012 after the boy called 911 and told dispatch that Cadek had hit him and his mother during an argument. During that argument, Cadek punched two holes in walls at the child’s residence, according to a charging affidavit.
The child’s mother said Cadek did not hit her. Flagler County Sheriff's deputies examined the child and found swelling and a small laceration around his eye. Cadek was charged with felony child abuse and arrested.
In court last week, Cadek pled guilty to the charge against him as part of an agreement in which he would serve 12 months and 14 days in prison.
Cadek has a history of arrests for charges ranging from fugitive from justice to possession of marijuana. He has been arrested twice since the November incident for violating the terms of his pre-trial release.
Cadek will be sentenced and taken to prison on Aug. 5. A judge allowed him that long between his plea and his sentencing so he could fix the roof on his home before being incarcerated.
