In the weeds
4:22 p.m. — 200 Block of Melrose Avenue. Theft. The victim let his neighbor borrow his gas-powered weedwacker, with the understanding that it would be returned later that day.
The victim tried several times to contact the suspect, he told police, but believes the suspect was avoiding him. The man finally sent a text message to the suspect and said if he didn’t return it, he was contacting the police.
June 5
This little piggy bank got stolen
8:36 a.m. — Intersection of Riverview Drive and Beach Street. Found property. An Ormond Beach resident found three laptops, a wallet and a piggy bank while walking their dogs near the Halifax River.
The property had to be washed from getting muddy in the river, and then it was brought into the Ormond Beach police station.
A police officer contact a woman, whose identification was found in the wallet, to notify her that the items had been found. The victim reported the items stolen May 20.
