Antique radio donated to The Casements
Charles and Elizabeth Milton, of Palm Coast, donated a 1929 Atwater Kent table radio to The Casements. The radio, which is “hidden” below the surface of a table, may be similar to the type of radio John D. Rockefeller Sr. owned and listened to inside his Ormond Beach home.
Charles Milton is an avid radio collector, the city said, and the radio was made in America and has its original parts.
Jewish Veterans group to install new officers
The Flagler-Volusia Counties Jewish War Veterans Association will install its 2013-14 Post officers during its meeting June 23, at Cypress Knolls Restaurant.
The installation ceremony will be led by Rabbi Howard S. Schwartz, and the new officers will be Cmdr. Abie Bokish, Adjutant/Judge Advocate Irv Hoffman, Quartermaster Stan Kates, Liaison to County Veterans Committees Cmdr. Bokish and Good and Welfare Committee Chairman Aaron Weiss.
City prepares Nova Center for Camp T-Rec
The Leisure Services’ building maintenance staff began work in the activity room at the Nova Community Center to prepare it for Camp T-Rec, which begins June 24.
A wall was framed for drywall on one side of the room, and a closet, which will house circuit breakers, was constructed on the other side.
Public works report
Urban Forestry crews removed dead trees on Greenfern Circle and Ridgewood Avenue. Maintenance crews cleared trimmed brush along sidewalk rights of way on Wye Drive.
