No cure for the common jerk

1:14 p.m. — First Block of Loyola Drive. Obscene phone call. The suspect called the victim approximately eight times, each time leaving a message until the machine stopped recording.

The suspect was rambling about the victim going to hell and not reading the bible, according to reports. The victim told police he thinks the suspect left the messages because he didn’t take the suspect's advice on how to treat a cold.

The victim said he didn’t feel threatened and did not want to press charges at this time.

Safety first

1:51 p.m. — 200 Block of Highland Avenue. Burglary. An air conditioning unit was stolen from outside a business, along with the air handler from inside the building.

The company had gone out of business, the victim told police, and so she was paying another firm to remove items for auction.

The wires to all the stolen units had been cut, the victim told police, and the power had been turned off to protect from electrocution.
