St. Mark plants peace pole
St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church recently planted a peace pole, as part of a major landscaping project. It bears the inscription "May Peace Prevail on Earth" on each of its four sides and each in a different language: English, Spanish, German and Russian. The Peace Pole was dedicated by the congregation after both worship services on June 9.

SAR awards good citizen
The Flagler Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution presented Good Citizenship Awards to eighth-grade students graduating from middle school. This year’s awards were presented to Anabella Giuliano and Jaxon Cox, of Buddy Taylor Middle School; Kylie Dahlberg and Brendon DiCerbo, of Indian Trails; Jordyn Way and Wallyson Pereira-Ohlson, of Imagine School at Town Center; and Adriana Reardon and Jacob Savage, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Seaton Catholic School.

Zackary Lermen, a mechanical engineering major and resident of Palm Coast, was among the students from Florida Institute of Technology, in Melbourne, who were named to the Dean's List for the spring semester.

John Fitton will be the athlete representative for Flagler County and the Special Olympics Florida Athlete Congress this week.

The city of Flagler Beach has launched its new website design, which was the result winning the Civic Plus Extreme Makeover.

Lifeline, a Celebrate Recovery campus, will host a Night of Worship 6 p.m. June 21, at Matanzas High School.
 

Jewish War Veterans install officers, honor member

During the June meeting of the Flagler-Volusia Counties Jewish War Veterans, the 2013-2014 Post officers will be installed by Rabbi Howard S. Schwartz. The new officers are Cmdr. Abie Bokish, Adjutant/Judge Advocate Irv Hoffman, Quartermaster Stan Kates, Liason to County Veterans Committees Bokish and Schwartz and Good and Welfare Committee Chairman Aaron Weiss. 

The Installation will be during a luncheon at noon on June 23, at the newly refurbished Cypress Knolls Restaurant.

One of the chapel's most prestigious awards, The Bronze Medallion of the Legion of Honor of the Four Chaplains, will be presented to Kates, of Palm Coast, for his lifetime history of voluntary, selfless service to his community.
