Second-grade students at Belle Terre Elementary School assumed the identities of historical figures and symbols Thursday, March 14, during the annual Living Museum.

Seven of the nine second-grade classrooms participated, giving parents, volunteers and other classes the chance to tour classrooms, stopping at each desk to learn a piece of history from the students.

“The kids now are so technologically savvy, and it was a great opportunity for them to be independent and create something on the computer,” said teacher Vanessa Ajayi, whose class participated in the Living Museum for the first time this year. “After seeing the other classes do it, the kids love it. They love creating and getting parents involved. It’s been a great opportunity for them to both be independent and challenge themselves.”
