Doctor arrested for violation of injunction

Jeffrey Newfield, 49, of Daytona Beach, was arrested March 17, for violation of a domestic-violence injunction.

Newfield, a doctor at Newfield Orthopedics, was previously charged, Feb. 20, with domestic violence and was ordered to stay more than 500 feet from his wife.

On March 17, Newfield was at a mutual friend’s home next to his wife’s residence in Ormond Beach, when she noticed his vehicle parked outside and called the police.

Newfield was arrested after it was determined the friend’s home was 287 feet from his wife’s, and he was in violation of the injunction.

He has several previous criminal charges, including domestic battery, battery and resisting an officer with violence, among others.

Police expand crime tips to mobile

Ormond Beach residents can now send anonymous crime tips to the Ormond Beach Police Department by sending a text message to CRIMES (274637), using the the keyword ORMONDPD, or by downloading the TipSoft app to their iPhone or Android phones.

Hand Avenue update

Road-base installation on the 600 block of Hand Avenue has been completed by ESG Construction Services and Zev Cohen and Associates. Driveway aprons, sidewalks and final grading is currently in progress.

Around Town ...

The city and the Motor Racing Heritage Association will dedicate the 1904 Ormond Garage Replica 2 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Birthplace of Speed Park, at the corner of A1A and Granada boulevard.

The Casements administrative office underwent a redesign, which included replacing the counters with desks, in order to create more open space.

The Building Maintenance Division of the Leisure Services Department made repairs to the target retrieval system at the police department's shooting range, which broke during weapons training. Staff fixed the system within 40 minutes.
