Noble named MEAC Player of the Week
The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats notched their third weekly conference honors of the year last week when officials from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honored B-CU third baseman Matt Noble as the MEAC Player of the Week for his performance in the week of March 4-10.

A junior from Flagler Beach and graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School, Noble hit .333 (7-for-21) with three doubles and six RBIs in five total games against Central Michigan and North Carolina Central. Noble had only one strikeout on the week.

Defensively, he added 16 assists and four putouts with no errors as the Wildcats finished 3-2 for the week.

This is the first weekly conference honor of his career at Bethune-Cookman.

Matanzas improved to 11-3.

Three more Matanzas lifters qualify for sectionals
Three more Matanzas High School weightlifters qualified for sectionals after placing in the top four at the second sub-sectionals on Friday.

Isaiah Lugo, Dyllan Fagas and Dakota Manford will join the other 12 qualifiers. 

All 15 lifters have qualified for sectionals, which will be April 6, at Baker County.

FPC track-and-field finishes 1st, 2nd at 5-Star meet
The Flagler Palm Coast track-and-field team took first and second place at the 5-Star Conference track meet on Friday.

The boys team finished first, with 175 team points. Kadeem Williams took first place in the 310-meters hurdles, 100-meters hurdles and as a member of the 4x400 relay team. Williams also took second place in the long jump.

The girls team finished second, with 115.50 points. Spruce Creek was the champion, with 175. Aquila Davis took first place in the shot put. Brie Smith took first place in the pole vault, launching 10 feet — breaking the previous school record of 9 feet, 6 inches.

Matanzas track-and-field finishes 5th, 7th at conference meet
The Matanzas High School track-and-field team took fifth and seventh place at the St. Johns River Athletic Conference track meet on Friday.

The boys team took seventh, finishing with 48 team points.

The girls team took fifth, finishing with 49 points.

We got spirit! PAL cheerleaders take first
The Flagler Police Athletic League Falcons Pee Wee year-round cheerleaders took first place in their division March 24 at the Reach the Beach National Championships, in Daytona Beach.

The year-round cheer season is an extension of the traditional Pop Warner football cheerleading/football season. The participants strictly compete in cheer competitions in the spring. The girls are ages 11 to 14.
