April 19
Competitive rivalry
11:15 a.m. Two Thousand Block of Moody Blvd. Larceny.
A deputy responded to a call of stolen signs along the road. The victim stated that around 9 a.m., he placed 19 fruit signs along the road to advertise his fruit stand. At 11 a.m., he looked outside his stand to find all 19 signs were missing. The victim stated that similar incidents have happened twice prior. He advised the deputy that it might be a fellow farmer’s market seller who is disgruntled at the victim for taking business away from them. The victim admitted he did not see anyone take them and could not provide a suspect at the time. The estimated cost of the 19 signs is $728.

April 20
Stating the obvious
2:25 a.m. Intersection of Cypress Point Parkway and Pine Cone Drive. DUI.
A deputy observed a man on a bicycle with no head or taillights run a stop sign in a supermarket parking lot then run another stop sign exiting the parking lot. The man rode along the median then cut across to the other side of the road. The deputy stopped the man on traffic violations. Upon arrival, the man was sitting on the sidewalk. His speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot and he was slightly swaying side to side. The officer requested the man to do a sobriety test, in which the man refused. An officer could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from his breath. As the officer placed handcuffs on the man, he began to pull away but was secured. As the officer advised the man to walk to the marked car, the man intentionally layed down on the ground. The officer gave multiple verbal commands for the man to stand up, in which he did not. After the man was picked up and walked over to the vehicle, the defendant refused to get in and stated, “This is resisting."

April 21
Failed drink and dash
1:51 a.m. Two Hundred Block of St. Joe Plaza Drive. Intoxication.
Deputies responded to a disturbance involving an intoxicated male. Upon arrival, the intoxicated male was being detained by two of the local pub’s employees. When deputies attempted to handcuff the male, he tried to pull his hands away, while resisting numerous verbal commands from law enforcement. At this time, the suspect was place on the floor, where the officers gained control and secured the suspect. The man was observed to have bloodshot eyes, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, slurred speech and other signs of intoxication. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the suspect consumed alcoholic beverages valued at $26. When an employee of the pub requested the man pay for his bill, he became aggressive and rude,  escalating into a disturbance. Just prior to the disturbance, the man attempted to hide in the bathroom then tried to run out when two employees stopped the man and the disturbance began. The suspect was arrested for theft, disorderly intoxication and resisting without violence.

April 22
Late-night pills
9 p.m. One Thousand Block of Madison Green Circle. Burglary.
A deputy was called to a residence in reference to a victim finding an intoxicated man in his car. The victim advised the deputy that he heard a car door and his dog outside and went to look. He observed a man in his vehicle and approached him, recognizing the man in his truck being associated with a neighbor. The victim stated that the man apologized, but when the man was told to leave, he became hostile. Upon arrival, the suspect was gone. However, enough information was known to find the residence of the suspect. The suspect advised the deputy that he went to the victim’s residence to buy some pills. When the two men went to exchange the pills, the suspect took them without paying and advised the victim that if he called someone, the suspect would “(expletive) him up.” The suspect was arrested for burglary.

April 24
Pricey apples
9:26 a.m. Three Hundred Block of South Kings Road. Delayed Larceny.
A deputy made contact with the elementary school principal. A teacher advised the principal that two white Apple 512 MB MacBooks were stolen from the lab cart. The computers were last seen Jan. 31. There is video footage that needs to be reviewed. Each computer was valued at $1,000, for a total of $2,000.
