Nakahara leads orchestra at Picnic & Pops

The Palm Coast Arts Foundation will present its seventh-annual Picnic & Pops concert Sunday, May 5, featuring Morihiko Nakahara, associate conductor of the Jacksonville Sympathy Orchestra, at Central Park in Town Center. Nakahara returns to Palm Coast with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra to conduct "Symphony in Central Park," following his first appearance in 2010.

Guests may bring food and beverages starting at 6:30 p.m. and enjoy the concert beginning at 8. Tickets are available by contacting the Palm Coast Arts Foundation at 263-2991 or online at www.thepcaf.org.


Arbor Day postponed
Due to excessive rain, the city of Palm Coast is postponing its Arbor Day 2013 celebration and associated 5K Root Run/Walk and 1 Mile Flutter Run/Walk until Saturday, May 18.

Runners may still pick up their race packets until 7 p.m. today, Friday, May 3, at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway N.E. Race packets may also be picked up on the morning of the race.

The Arbor Day race and other festivities will be moved to Waterfront Park, 150 Waterfront Park Road, on May 18, when the city was already planned an event to open the second leg of Palm Coast’s QR Code Project for City trails and parks.
 

Flagler Beach Relays for Life
Flagler Beach will hold its Relay for Life beginning 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4, and ending 9 a.m. Sunday, May 5, at Veterans Park and the Flagler Beach Farmers Market.

There will be musical performances by Seaside Market, The David Lane Band and Tarnished Halo. DJ Vern, of Pyramid Disc Jockeys, will be the master of ceremonies, and Kokomo’s Café and Finn’s will be open all night in support of the event.
