Bob Coleman was awarded $1,000 at the May 7 City Commission meeting, for winning the Mayor's Health and Fitness Challenge with the highest overall weight lost and the highest percentage of pounds lost.

But the money didn’t stay in Coleman’s possession long. Coleman addressed the crowd in City Commission Chambers and said, while the money would be nice to have, it could do more in the hands of Family Renew Community, a homeless charity focusing in Volusia County.

He handed the money over to the charity less than a minute after receiving it from Mayor Ed Kelley.
