+ Finn’s to renovate patio
Finn's Beachside Pub got the OK from the Flagler Beach City Commission on Thursday to renovate its patio. The change will make all surfaces on the east end of the building level using a concrete slab and a decorative rock retaining wall and wrought iron railing. Stairs will be carved into the sides of the patio.
The change is meant to increase curb appeal, crowd management and accessibility to the bar. Finn’s will not increase its seating capacity with the change, but it is currently operating with fewer seats than allowed to it by the city code.
After commissioners approved the change, Flagler County Commissioner Barbara Revels asked the board how much the application fees cost Finn’s. Commissioners said they totaled about $1,000.
Revels repeated a request that she has issued before: That the city consider lessening its application fees for small, commercial business owners who wish to make small renovations to their properties. The costs are too high, she said. City Commissioner Jane Mealy said staff is working on the suggestion, and the issue will eventually be raised before her board.
