Friend request: Dee-nied!

7:23 p.m. — First Block of Pergola Place. Obscene phone call. An Ormond Beach woman told police she had been harassed by the suspect through Facebook messages.

The woman said she is dating the suspect’s brother, and that she denied a friend request from him. That’s when the messages started, and they didn't stop once she told the suspect to stop.

The woman wanted the incident documented, according to reports, but she didn’t want to pursue charges or have the police contact the suspect for fear that it would increase the problem.

Why, pray, is my abandoned car being towed?

7:43 a.m. — First Block of Beach Street. Abandoned vehicle. Police responded to an abandoned vehicle in the middle of the travel lane behind the library. The vehicle was locked, and the officer was unable to make entry.

The vehicle wasn’t stolen, and several attempts to contact the registered owner failed. A tow truck was then called to the scene and began loading the vehicle. As this was happening, the vehicle’s owner walked up and asked police why his vehicle was being towed.

The owner apologized for leaving his vehicle there, and the tow truck worked out a price for the vehicle to be released.
