Growing up playing soccer, we used to play anywhere we could: fields, tennis courts, parking garages.
During the week, we would go to Volusia County to compete in an indoor league that was played in a renovated church gym.
Futsal, as it’s called by many, helps players hone their technical skills, their touch and get used to playing a faster pace.
And as the soccer craze in Flagler County — and the United States — continues to grow, an indoor league will soon be coming to Palm Coast.
Indoor Revolution, an indoor soccer facility started by Jayme Fernandes, is eyeing a June or July opening, on Utility Drive, in Palm Coast.
City building officials said a plan hasn’t been formally submitted, but examiners have heard it is coming.
Currently, Fernandes is working with city officials on permitting. He hopes to open in time for summer, when it’s too hot for games outside. The field will be fully air-conditioned.
Fernandes said there will be youth programs, camps and birthday parties. There will also be leagues for youth and adults, both men and women.
“This is something that Palm Coast really needs,” he said. “It’s a faster game where you can score more and have more contact and control of the ball.”
