Matanzas baseball hold banquet
The Matanzas baseball team held its end-of-year banquet Friday night.
Tyler Walls, Sam Colasanti and Tyler Stuart were named to the St. Johns River Athletic Conference all-conference team.
Josh Alvarado was named MVP, Jeremiah Wilson earned the Coaches’ Award and Tyler Stuart was the team’s Cy Young award winner.
Possums top Ponte Vedra, win tourney
The Flagler Possums lacrosse team took first place over the weekend in the Capitol City Shootout, in Tallahassee.
The team, which comprises players from Flagler Palm Coast Matanzas and Indian Trails Middle School, went 5-1 en route to the title, including topping Ponte Vedra twice.
Hang Time Athletics takes first place
Hang Time Athletics took first place as a team last month at the USA Gymnastics’ Red White and You gymnastics meet in Moultrie, Ga.
Hang Time Athletics is based in St. Augustine, but several gymnasts from Flagler County compete with the team, including Nikolena Perrine.
Golf tournament to benefit cancer
Henry DiGuilio and Nick Sepe are hosting a golf tournmanet Saturday, June 1, at Cypress Knoll to benefit Diguilio's two grandsons, Scotty, 21, and Nicholas, 25, who both are fighting cancer.
Cost is $65 and includes a buffet lunch after the tournament at the VFW, on Old Kings Road.
Registration for the shotgun tournament is at 7:30 a.m., followed by an 8:30 start.
