BOX: Watch out for Citrus Greening
Citrus greening is a bacterial disease transmitted by a small insect, the Asian citrus psyllid. There is no cure, and trees decline over a period of years and die.
Symptoms are most easily detected on leaves by a blotchy mottle or yellowing that is not symmetrical about the center vein of the leaf. Affected fruit is commonly misshapen and appear lopsided and have a bitter or salty taste.
If you think you have an affected tree, you can put a sample in two plastic storage bags and bring it to the Flagler County Extension Service, at 150 Sawgrass Road, Bunnell. Call 437-7464.
