The Italian American Club was transformed into a military hall Saturday night for a birthday ball celebrating the 238th birthday of the Marine Corps. The evening, which some said to be the most prestigious and well-kept secret in Flagler County, was hosted by the Marine Corps League Flagler County Detachment 876.
This was the 19th-annual birthday celebration held by the local organization and sold out at just over 200 tickets.

Founding members of the league were also honored at the celebration, including Henry “Red” Gensch, who was also named as the detachment’s Marine of the Year.
