In this edition of Cops Corner: A sweepstakes "winner" turns the tables on scammers; a ding-dong-ditcher does what he does best: dings, then dongs, then ditches; and, there's dog drama afoot (or should we say "a-paw"?) in Ormond Beach.

A game of cat and $4 million mouse

3:54 p.m. — 10 Block of Marvin Road. Information. The victim said he had received a call advising that he had won $4 million, and that two men would deliver the money to his house. All he had to do to get the money, the caller said, was go to Wal-Mart and buy a $250 money order, to pay for the totally-not-a-scam delivery fee.

The man called the woman back and said he had the money and was waiting for his $4 million, but he had other plans. He contacted police and asked them to catch the culprits when they come to his house to pick up the money order.

A real-life knock-knock joke

7:26 p.m. — 70 Block of Orchard Lane. Suspicious Incident. The victim stated that around 6 p.m. a white SUV pulled into her driveway. The driver got out, walked up to her front door and then returned to the SUV and left. She didn’t know if he knocked on the door, though, since she was washing clothes and the dogs were barking. The video from the house showed what she described. Nothing was missing from outside the house.

Mind your dog's pees and Qs

6:27 p.m. — 100 Block of Northbrook Lane. Disturbance. The victim told police that, while walking her dog, the animal squatted on a neighbor’s yard, and the neighbor started yelling at her. She then left with her dog, but the neighbor came around the corner with his own dog, a pit bull, off its leash. The neighbor said, “You don’t know who you’re (farming) with,” and “I will send my dog after yours.”

The officer questioned the neighbor, who said he had asked her several times to keep her dog off his yard. The officer told both parties to call the police next time, before interacting with each other.
