Two youth football teams in Ormond Beach are headed to Disney — and they won't be visiting the theme parks.

Ormond Beach PRIDE Mighty Mites heading to national championships
In the second week of December, a group of 23 players ages 7-10 will be heading to Disney. But the trip isn’t for seeing the attractions and theme parks.
The Mighty Mites will be heading to the ESPN Wide World of Sports to play in the American Youth Football National Championships.
On a strength of a 6-1 record and after outscoring opponents 125-58, the Mighty Mites have punched their ticket to the national dance and will begin play Dec. 8.
This is just the third season the PRIDE has been in existence.
It’s been an interesting run for the Pride, who ran the table in the regular season with six straight wins and suffered their only blemish of the season when they lost 19-7 to the Gainesville Rattlers in the conference championship.
Many of the PRIDE players come from pretty good football backgrounds, too. A half-dozen of the players have fathers who played football at college level, and if the Pride’s results are any indication, the fruit hasn’t fallen far from the tree.
Despite all of the team’s elements, the PRIDE is still hoping for some sponsorships to fund the mandatory, five-night stay at Disney.

Ormond Beach Mighty Mite Sandcrabs advance to Disney
The Ormond Beach Mitey Mite Sandcrabs won their Mitey Mite Bowl game against the Cocoa Tigers, 19-13, on Nov. 10.
The Tigers scored in the first half on a long touchdown run and went into halftime with a 6-0 lead.
But the Sandcrabs battled back in the second half with two touchdowns by Garrick Schwartz and an interception returned for a touchdown by Jonathon Campbell.
The Tigers were able to get the ball back with a little over a minute to go in the game but were intercepted by Connor Barrie on the last play of the game.
The Sandcrabs are now 6-3 and have been invited to play at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, in Disney, for their last bowl game of the season. The bowl game will played Dec. 7.
