The city of Palm Coast expects to begin reconstruction of the M-3 Surface Water Control Structure, located on the Belleaire Waterway, just south of Birchview Place, in early 2014.
Beginning Sunday, Dec. 1, to prepare for construction of this facility, the waters immediately upstream of the site, in the Belleaire Waterway, will be lowered 2 feet and will be maintained at this level — as is necessary — for the duration of the project. Additionally, the tributaries upstream of the Belleaire Waterway, Bayside Stream, Bayside Channel and Barrister Channel, will be lowered 1 foot and will be maintained at this level during the project, as well.
Construction of the M-3 Surface Water Control Structure is expected to be completed by early May 2014, at which time the water level restrictions will be removed. In time, normal water level will return to the Belleaire Waterway.
The city asks residents for their patience and understanding as it makes needed improvements and upgrades to the stormwater and flood control system.
