Pilgrims and Indians made their way out of their respective classrooms Friday morning to seek out their spots at several tables set up in the Sunshine Academy parking lot. Parents scattered throughout, with cameras and cell phones in hand to capture a picture of their children acting out the first Thanksgiving.

The school’s annual Thanksgiving celebration included turkeys for each class, which were provided by the school, and side dishes prepared by parents. Director Slava Shevchenko said this year’s celebration drew the most parent participation in the school's history.

“It’s great for us to get together and interact with one another, to allow the kids to sit down and participate with one another as a family — because we are a family here,” Shevchenko said.
