Memorial Garden experience was uplifting

Dear Editor:
We want to thank the Palm Coast Parks and Recreation Department for the wonderful handling of obtaining and placement of a memorial stone for our son, David Bowman, in the Children's Memorial Garden last Thursday.

The garden is nestled in the shade of old oaks along the Intracoastal Waterway, in the city's Waterfront Park. This garden allows families to honor their deceased children and serves as a peaceful sanctuary for their reflection and recollection of cherished memories.

It should be pointed out that there are no age restrictions. The death of a child at any age is a sad event. Our son was 54 years old when he passed away. One other family, who had lost their 1-year-old child, was there when the stones were placed, and overall it was an uplifting experience after a sad event.

Again, our thanks to the Parks and Recreation Department.

City Council should be voted out for City Hall vote

Dear Editor:
In light of the City Council’s recent approval to build a City Hall despite going against the will of the people on a referendum, I invoke a call to all residents to vote all current council members out of office and teach them a lesson that we, the residents, are their bosses and they should serve at our pleasure.

Just like one resident at the meeting put it, they are shoving this down our throats. I am sure that they voted yes on this to have their names put on the building plaque and have a personal office to show off. Shame on them.

To all council members: In the best interest of the city, purchase any existing building that is vacant. Do not build. That would only keep adding to the inventory of empty space in our city. Great deals can be negotiated with current market conditions. Do what the residents want for a change.

More patrols needed on Florida Park Drive

Dear Editor:
I have to agree with all the complaints about Florida Park Drive. You can drive 35 mph and someone always comes speeding up behind you and either tailgates or passes you over the double yellow lines — probably the same people who think they shouldn’t be fined for running a red light. They must all be in a hurry to get higher car insurance rates and buy more gas.

Those electronic speed signs are sure a waste of money. Does anyone really slow down when they see how fast they are going? How about the Sheriff’s Office patrolling Florida Park Drive with unmarked cars and issuing lots of tickets?
