It's raining cardboard boxes ...
8:15 a.m. — Southbound I-95. Property Recovered. The deputy observed a tractor trailer enter I-95 southbound from Palm Coast Parkway, with a Bobcat forklift, along with crushed cardboard boxes in tow. As the trailer began to speed up, the boxes began to tear apart and fly all over the roadway. Vehicles behind the trailer were attempting to change lanes to dodge the flying boxes.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop, and the driver agreed to take back-roads to his destination in Orlando. As the deputy was clearing the traffic stop, dispatch advised that the trailer tag was reported stolen out of Orlando. The deputy stopped the trailer again at the weigh station after learning of the situation.
The driver stated that his company picks up the trailers from depots at various locations. A computer check revealed that trailer and trailer tag were both reported stolen out of Orange County. The deputy notified dispatch and called a towing service to take the trailer to their premises.
Afterward, the deputy received a call from the person who reported the trailer as stolen and advised that the trailer was taken in July by an unknown person, but did not give a name of a person of interest.

Send money to avoid being scammed
8:07 p.m. — First Block of West Waterside Parkway. Fraud. The deputy responded to the home, where a man said he had trouble logging onto his computer around noon. The man stated he kept getting messages saying the computer had several viruses. Later, the man received a phone call from an unknown male with an Indian accent. The unknown male told the victim that he worked for Microsoft and that he could help him remove the viruses from the computer, if anti-virus software was purchased from him.
The victim agreed, and provided his debit account information. The victim was called back from the so-called Microsoft employee and said that $5,000 was inadvertently placed into the victim’s checking account. The victim was then instructed to send the money back by Western Union to a man in India, who had the same last name as his own. When the victim noticed the coincidence, he realized it was all a scam, but was told that if he didn’t put the money back, they would empty his bank account.
The victim then went to his bank to check the activity on his account. The bank informed the victim that the suspect withdrew $5,000 from his credit card and put it into his checking account. The victim did not send the money, and the bank was working on putting the $5,000 back on the credit card. The victim’s account numbers will also be changed. There are no current suspect, and the victim did not lose any money.
